Do you know about Sally Lloyd-Jones’s wonderful Jesus Storybook Bible?
Tim Keller said of it, “I would urge not just families with young children to get this book, but every Christian–from pew warmers, to ministry leaders, seminarians and even theologians! Sally Lloyd-Jones has captured the heart of what it means to find Christ in all the scriptures, and has made clear even to little children that all God’s revelation has been about Jesus from the beginning–a truth not all that commonly recognized even among the very learned.”
Tim’s wife, Kathy, wrote, “Most children’s books of Bible stories are little more than a Christianized version of Aesop’s fables, or at best, a Christian adventure cartoon,'” but noted that Sally “captured the plot line of redemption in a children’s story Bible that sings the praise of Jesus and his saving grace on every page, in every story.”
Adult fans asked Sally and her publishers if they would consider creating an edition of the book specifically for grownups, and they have: The Story of God’s Love for You comes out this Tuesday, October 6. The Story of God’s Love for You contains the same text as the Jesus Storybook Bible, but has been redesigned to appeal to an older crowd.
The publishers note that it is “accessible to someone who might not pick up a book with the word ‘Bible’ in it, or be drawn to an illustrated children’s book.”
Although some adults do feel drawn to an illustrated children’s version, because it is lovely. 🙂
(Note: Sally is not related to Martyn Lloyd-Jones, a Welsh minister influential in the British evangelical movement, even though everyone always thinks she is.)
